We Believe...

Traffic IntersectionGod provides opportunities for us to show His love to others, but often we are too busy to realize that an opportunity has passed us by. If…Then…Movement exists to remind each person that every moment is an IF – what we do with that moment is our THEN, so that as we pass through life and the opportunities arise, we MOVE in a way that shows the love of God to the world.
If…Then…Movement is Simply Changing Thoughts to Actions!

Actions speak louder than words! "
Suppose someone sees a brother or sister in need and is able to help them. IF he doesn’t take pity on them, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, don’t just talk about love. Put your love into action. THEN it will truly be love." 1 John 3: 17-18 (NIrV)

Salvation is not based on your works! "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians2:8-9 (NIV). Although we believe that God called us to be His hands and feet to the world, we know that our works cannot save us. We are saved by grace alone through our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.

However, GENUINE FAITH ALWAYS TAKES ACTIONBecause our "...faith comes from the Word..." (Romans 10:17), we cannot hope to know and love Jesus, become like Jesus, or even understand what He asks of us without abiding in His Word. The apostle John goes so far as to equate Jesus with the Word (John 1:1).  In John 14:15, Jesus makes it clear that "IF you love Me, 'THEN' you will keep my commands..." Again, in John 14:21 Jesus says, "Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me, and the one who loves me will be loved by My Father..." IF we are children of God, THEN we are commanded to bear fruit so people will know us by our fruit. "By their fruit you will recognize them." Matthew 7:16a (NIV). So, IF we truly love God, THEN our ACTIONS will reflect obedience to his commands and we will produce fruit for His Kingdom.

We believe that there are three ACTIONS (movements) that should be evident fruits in the lives of believers:

1. The ACTION of growing in Christ-like character.

As followers of Jesus Christ, our character must change to be more and more like His character. This is a life-long journey.  Although we will never achieve perfection in character, until the day that we die, the pattern and trajectory of our character growth should aim to be more like Jesus. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

2. The ACTION of serving others.

homeless manIt is better to give than to receive! In Acts 20:35 Paul says, In everything I did, I showed you that we must work hard and help the weak. We must remember the words of the Lord Jesus. He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Once we have received the gift of God’s salvation through Jesus, our lives become His. Jesus said that it is more blessed to give than to receive.

Even as Christians, we often get caught in the trap of self-service. The idea of joy in giving is not new, but the idea of serving others before ourselves is against our natural human desire.  When we intentionally decide to see the needs of others and serve them, God rewards us with a JOY that is unexplainable.

3. The ACTION of Disciple Making!

The Great Commandment is, “Love one another as I have loved you.” John 15:12 Obedience to this verse is achieved through developing Christ-like character that cares about the needs of others. The Great Commission is, “Go and make disciples…” Matthew 28:19a. Every person that we encounter is somewhere on their journey either away from or toward God.  As Christians, our responsibility is to encourage them to take at least one step in the direction of God’s will and plan for their lives. This one MOVEMENT encompasses both evangelism and discipleship.  As we learn to listen to and obey the commands of Jesus, our lives become intentional to share His love with the world through both our actions and our words.

Our desire is for you to find the pure JOY that God longs to give when you give of yourself to others for the Kingdom of God!
