The Beautiful Bride - Week 5, Day 1

IF… Peter said, “ But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” 1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)

IF… Paul said, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”                   2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV)

THEN… I will be ready and able to share the Good News with others in a way that is natural and personal for me, remembering to be respectful and kind. I will recognize the false arguments and deceptive philosophies all around me and will be able to defend the truth of God’s Word against them.

Being READY does not mean that you are perfect; it means that you are prepared and available! Over the past year, since I often work from home, I have found that “no makeup” days occur more frequently. On these days, I find myself ducking my head when I go through car line or heading down a different aisle when I see someone that I know at the store.  As women, this is normal. We don’t want people to judge us when we are “NOT READY.”  However, to my surprise, over the past year, I have had people comment that I don’t need makeup.  Another beautiful result has been my realization that other people really don’t care about my outward appearance. What people long to see is a sincere heart! BEING READY has more to do with what I cultivate on the inside than what I look like on the outside.

The same is true with “BEING READY” as the Bride of Christ. As we wait for Jesus to return, we must be ready to share His message of love with the world. How will you be ready? By putting into practice the things that we have discussed!

1.     Recognize that your dowry price was paid on the cross!

2.     Choose to be the Bride of Christ by accepting His cup and committing yourself to Him.

3.     Use the gifts that He left for you to keep your focus on Him.

  • Gift #1: His Word – You will not be ready if you are not in his Word!
  • Gift #2: Prayer – You must communicate with Him through his Word and through prayer to unlock the power of the Holy Spirit living inside you.
  • Gift #3: Gifts of the Spirit- You will find purpose and fulfillment when you put these gifts into practice for Him.

4.     Surrender to His Lordship in all areas of your life.

5.    Be READY and take ACTION! Hold fast to the first four items in this list, so that you are equipped to confront      falsehoods and to share his truth with the world around you!

Just do what He asks, and He will guide your words and actions.  It is not your job to change the world; that is HIS job.  Your job is to be willing and able to speak or act when the opportunity arises. You don’t need to know all of the answers.  It is fine to get back to someone after a little research, but you MUST engage! You are the bride. He is your groom.  He changed your life for the better.  Please share your story!
