The Beautiful Bride - Week 3, Day 2

One of a Kind

IF… “we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

THEN… I will know that God has made me one-of-a-kind, and I will live to serve him with good works for which he has specifically designed me.

I hope you are beginning to wrap your mind around the immensity of God’s complete adoration and affection for you. As we realize how perfectly He provides for our emotional and physical needs, a natural question arises, “How do I show my love in response to His love?”

An adequate response requires ACTION! The Bible clearly explains what it looks like to respond appropriately to the love of God and describes the fruit our lives will produce as a result.  At the end of our first week, we talked about three specific things that will be evident in your life.  Let’s quickly review those things.

  1. Your life should bear the fruit of the Spirit. Each day you must strive to look more and more like your groom Jesus. Galatians 5:22-23
  2. Your life should bear the fruit of service to others.  The Bible says that faith without works is dead. James 2:14-26
  3. Your life should bear the fruit of new disciples.  To be a true follower of Jesus, we must lead and teach others to follow Him as well. Matthew 28:19-20

Will the fruit that my life produces look the same as the fruit of other Christians? Although as disciples, we should all have Christ-like character, perform good works, and make disciples, the areas in which we serve may look very different from those of another Christian.  God did not design you to be like anyone else! If God is big enough to create each of us with unique fingerprints, then there is no doubt that He is capable of designing unique spirits and souls with unique gifts, interests, and abilities.  Naturally, then, the way in which you choose to serve God and others will be unique to you.

As we study this third Jewish Wedding Custom, I want to remind you that the Groom left gifts with His bride for two reasons: 1. To remind her that she was special and loved, and 2. To help her stay focused on her Groom while they were apart.  We have already discussed the gifts of God’s Word, Prayer and the Holy Spirit.  When the Holy Spirit moves into your life, He brings new gifts that are as unique as you. These gifts are for you to use NOW for God and his purposes. They will bring glory to God as you put them to use, but they will also awaken your soul and your spirit in a way you could never imagine! For when you are using your gifts to magnify the Kingdom of God you are connecting your spirit to the Spirit of God and abiding in His grace and love for you! Will you use your special gifts today to perform the good works that God has already prepared for you to do?
