The Beautiful Bride - Week 5, Day 5

Seen and Unseen

IF… “we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)

THEN… I will be aware of Satan’s schemes to distract and discourage me from the mission that God has given me to advance his Kingdom.  I will effectively and diligently use every tool I have at my disposal to resist Satan and to allow God to use me for his good will and purpose: The Word of God, The Holy Spirit, Prayer, and my Fellow Christians.  I will spend my life on pursuits that have eternal value and meaning until Christ returns to take me home.

Dear Sister, (I usually struggle when Bible study leaders use sweet clichés sweet like, “Dear Sister” BUT I ask you to hear my heart this time. I can’t think of a better way to address you!) We have made it to the end of this study. There have been certain topics that I have struggled with more than others. Maybe you have struggled as well, but I pray that in the struggle you have been challenged to become more and more like Christ.

Today as we finish, let me warn you that Satan HATES that you have completed this study. But what is even more threatening to him is what you will do with it…how you will apply what you have learned!  When you begin to do the right things, expect challenges and trials to come your way. As the beloved of God, we will be hated by those who love this world (John 15:18).  Remember that you can overcome any struggle by keeping your eyes fixed on the author and finisher of your faith! Hebrews 12:1-3 tells how Jesus endured the suffering of the cross by staying focused on the joy before Him.  YOU, HIS BRIDE, ARE HIS JOY! So, fix your eyes on His promises and fight the good fight for the Kingdom of your beloved.

Hebrews 11:27 refers to Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt, saying, “…He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible.” Did you catch that???  HE KEPT HIS EYES ON THE INVISIBLE! He knew that the One he could not see was bigger and more powerful than what was right in front of him.  It is easy to turn our focus to our problems, but God calls us to walk with Him in faith, keeping our eyes fixed on HIM (Hebrews 11:1). Jesus gave us this promise in John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Your groom overcame the world when he conquered death. He overcame it for you, so keep your eyes on the prize of eternity with him.  You are his BEAUTIFUL BRIDE, so act like it!
