If you're unhappy and you know it, check your god.

I just felt inspired this morning to blog a mad skill that I have been hiding for too long. As some of you know, my husband has a knack for writing music. (He will deny this as any great skill but - as his #1 cheerleader- I disagree.) :) Well, prepare to be amazed. I would like to share some lyrics with you to an original ditty I have written:

Hold the applause... Every good songwriter leaks their inspiration for their songs. So here is mine. Well, part of mine. My husband informed me that I was a little "too inspired" ie... my original post was too long. :) So here is the "revised" inspired version: God knows that if we ever take our focus off of him having first priority in our life than everything else goes out of balance. How many times do we take God out of first place and then get mad at Him for not making us "happy"? If you stop going to work and start going to the gym instead can you get mad at your boss for not sending you a check? Silly comparison... but it was the first thing I thought of. God wants more for us than just happiness. Happiness is a reaction- like any other emotion. And, like any other emotion it is temporary and often a result of circumstances. God wants more than that for us AND from us. When we put God first, then and ONLY then can we achieve satisfaction beyond mere happiness. What would be a good name for something that lasts longer than "happiness" and was more than just an emotional response? hmm..... oh, how about  joy?!?! Or you can just call it "Super Happiness". lol Another note, anytime God is not our #1 pursuit it ALWAYS affects the joy we find in our other relationships in life. Is your marriage not working? Are you struggling to find success with work? Do you feel hopeless as a parent? Are finances more than you can handle? Are you single and feeling like sex is smarter than abstinence? Are you lonely? If you are unhappy and you know it, check your god. ? If you are hungry to study more on this: - Read Exodus! Exodus 20 gives the 10 commandments. In Exodus 22 God repeats himself about worshiping gods and then in Exodus 32 the people start worshiping other gods. Can you relate? - Read about the pagan gods on the Old Testament. Did you know that we still worship them today? The golden images of them may not still be around but what did each of the pagan idols represent?
